Coastal Commission to rule on SRHS#15

The California Coastal Commission (CCC) will be ruling on the Coastal Permit Application by LAUSD to construct an 810-seat high school with 30 classrooms, administrative offices, gymnasium, amphitheater, sports fields, wind turbines, and 193 on-site parking spaces, at their property at Angels Gate. Application No. 5-08-251 is item number 22c on the agenda.

The CCC meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the City of Oceanside, City Council Chambers, 300 North Coast Hwy., Oceanside, CA 92054

If you wish to speak at the meeting, you will fill out a “Request to Speak” form and give it to a staff person at the meeting.

Letters and written comments may be submitted to the CCC no later than three working days before the hearing. In the upper right hand corner of the first page of your submittal please identify the agenda item number (W22c), application number (5-08-251) & your name. Please summarize your position in two or three pages. You may attach any exhibits you feel are necessary. Please Note: You are discouraged from submitting written materials to the Commission on the day of the hearing, unless they are visual aids. Letters can be sent to:

Burglary from Motor Vehicles

We received a crime alert from LAPD Sr. Lead Officer Joe Buscaino:

Over the last two weeks we have seen a small cluster of burglary from motor vehicles in your area. Listed below are the types of property that have been taken:
* GPS
* MP3 Player
* Catalytic Converters

Unknown suspect(s) is smashing car windows. Crimes are occurring while you are all sleeping (10pm to 6am). If you see or hear of crime in progress call
9-1-1 and be sure to tell your neighbors not to leave valuables in vehicles in plain sight.

Toy Run in Palisades

The Legends Car Club will be holding a toy run this Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wilder’s Annex. If you would like to help make the holiday special for a child in need (and see some cool vintage cars in the process), please bring an unwrapped toy to the park on Paseo del Mar (near Emily Street). All toys will be given to the LAPD Harbor Division to be distributed among harbor area underprivileged kids.

In case of rain, the toy run will be postponed one week to Sunday, December 14.

LAUSD Board to Vote on Angels Gate High School

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will be holding two meetings, open to the public, at which the LAUSD Board of Education will take action on the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and project approval for the proposed South Region High School #15 at Angels Gate.

The first meeting is a Facilities Committee meeting. Individuals who wish to address the Committee must sign up in the Board Room on the day of the meeting, prior to the beginning of the agenda item. The second meeting will be a Board of Education meeting where the board will vote on the proposed high school. Residents who would like to speak to the Board must call 213-241-7002 to register no later than one hour prior to the start of the meeting.

1:00 p.m. (SRHS#15 will be heard at approximately 5:00 pm)

Both meetings will be held at 333 S. Beaudry , 1st Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90017. The visitor parking lot is located in the Visconti Apartment building garage at 1221 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Parking validations will be provided.

All information is subject to change so please call the Board Secretariat Office at 213-241-7002 to confirm any information. A limited number of speakers are permitted at each meeting.
