Rec & Park/LAUSD MOU

The agenda for tomorrow’s meeting of the Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners contains an item about Angels Gate Park. Item #09-060 regards the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Dept. of Rec. and Parks with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for the “Proposed Upgrade of Certain Roads within Angels Gate Park and the Negotiation and Preparation of a Related Agreement.” Copies of these agreements can be found on the Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council’s website under Deadline Action Items.

When: Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
Where: Banning Residence Museum, 401 E. M Street, Wilmington, CA 90744

Persons wishing to address the commission must complete a speaker’s request form at the meeting and submit it to the Commission executive assistant prior to the board’s consideration of the item.

Burglary Arrest on Jackstadt

On the afternoon of Sunday, April 5, there was a lot of police activity on the 3700 block of Jackstadt. Two suspects were seen exiting a house with a wet/dry vacuum by a neighbor (an off-duty Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department employee). Two suspects were detained at the scene for police and were identified as being inside the victim’s location. The District Attorney’s Office has filed burglary charges against both suspects.

Thanks to neighbors watching out for neighbors and the Los Angeles Police Department for their good work!

New LAPD Harbor Station Ribbon Cutting

LAPD

On Saturday, April 25 at 6:00 pm there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new LAPD Harbor Community Police Station. Tours will be given of the station, refreshments will be available and there will be live entertainment. The station is expected to be operational within a week of the ribbon cutting.

Filming on Gaffey

A film crew will be on Gaffey Street at 36th Street on Tuesday, April 7 from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm filming for Sprint Nextel.

Arrests near Angels Gate Park

LAPD has recently made a few quality of life arrests that our officers in our neighborhood within the last two weeks.

On March 17, two individuals were arrested for drinking in public at the Joan Milke Flores Park. They both were arrested by Vice officers for 41.27(C) LAMC - Drinking in Public.

The following day, officers noticed a vehicle parked on Gaffey Street near 36th Street in the early hours of the morning (4:20 a.m.). The car was parked illegally against the posted signs. Officers approached the vehicle and found two individuals sleeping inside the vehicle. Both the passenger and driver were ran for wants/warrants. The driver was not wanted and was issued a parking citation and sent home. The passenger was a Parolee at Large and was arrested for 3056 PC-Parolee at Large.
