• Tuesday, June 8: Bungy Hedley shows a movie of the history of Royal Palms and talks of her memories growing up there
• Saturday, June 12: The 4 year anniversary of Bruce and Peggy Lindquist owning The Corner Store.
• Sunday, June 13: Sprint for White Point Home Tour. Tickets on sale at the Corner Store’s front counter.
• Saturday, June 19: Soda Tasting for the L.A. Maritime Museum Children’s Exibit. More info to come. Tickets will be on sale at the front counter.
• Saturday + Sunday, June 19 + 20: Art Sale buy local Angel’s Gate Cultural Center artists Andrea and Phoebe. Unique and beautiful wares.
• Sunday, July 4: Tickets for the fireworks show and private VIP beach party to benefit the Cabrillo Beach Boosters on sale at the front counter.
• August, date TBA: Sidewalk Chalk contest for the local kids in front of the store.
• Sunday, October 3: Wine Tasting fundraiser for the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
• November, date TBA: Wine Tasting fundraiser for the Marine Mammal Care Center.
• Friday, December 17: Miracle on 37th Street with Santa Claus, caroling in the neighborhood and free eggnog.

Point Fermin Lighthouse Fundraiser, May 8

Clean San Pedro, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that deals with cleaning up graffiti, trash, weeds, etc. that are in the streets of San Pedro in the areas around Gaffey and Pacific Streets. A fundraiser will be held on May 16 to help them continue this community-minded work. There will be a martini bar, wine tasting, beer, food from San Pedro restaurants
WHAT: Thirst of San Pedro fundraiser for Clean San Pedro, Inc.
WHEN: Sunday, May 16, 2010, 1pm–7pm
WHERE: Portuguese Bend area (address to be announced to ticket holders)
COST: $85/person

WHAT: Annual Wine & Beer Tasting
WHEN: Saturday, May 8, 2010. Tasting times are set for 1:30-3pm; 3:30-5pm; and 5:30-7pm.
WHERE: Corner Store, 1118 W. 37th St., San Pedro
COST: Early Bird special for the first taste at 1:30pm is $10 per person; all other times are $15 per person. Tickets can be purchase at the Corner Store or at the lighthouse, 807 W. Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro.
DETAILS: Hosted by the Pt. Fermin Lighthouse Society to help raise funds to complete the refurbishment of the antique kitchen sink and counter in this historical lighthouse, which was built in 1874. Highlighting the event will be a silent auction, opportunity drawings, and wonderful, live music. Adults only. Appetizers will be served. Art by Muriel Olquin. Music by Nova Trees…Duet. Discover an eclectic mix of San Pedro’s most fascinating homes at the Spring for White Point Home Tour & Reception on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 1- 5 PM. A contemporary remodel with beautiful water gardens inside and out, a 1920’s cottage with an award-winning New Zealand artist’s modern studio,are two of six homes to be featured on this year’s self-guided tour,. The tour is an annual community event hosted by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and the Spring for White Point Committee. All proceeds from the event benefit the White Point Nature Preserve and new Nature Education Center in San Pedro.
This year Random Lengths News is supporting the event by offering exclusive advertising opportunities to the Home Tour Sponsors in HarboRLiving magazine. The issue to be published on May 27, 2010 is a Special Home Tour Edition featuring the history, architecture and other interesting details about the featured homes. Sponsor advertising will have prominent media visibility at a special discounted rate in this popular edition of HarboRLiving, which has a circulation of 30,000.
Following the tour, ticket holders are invited to enjoy a celebration reception from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at the new White Point Nature Education Center with wine, appetizers, live music, and a silent auction. They will have a special opportunity to tour the Nature Education Center which features multi-media exhibits of White Point’s cultural and natural history and a native plant demonstration garden and which will serve as a community resource for students, families and community groups from all over Los Angeles. The Center is set amidst the beautifully restored 102-acre Preserve with impressive ocean views, and 3.7 miles of groomed and handicapped accessible hiking trails that wind through the restored native coastal sage scrub habitat.
Tickets will go on sale in April and may be purchased in advance for $50 per person. More information on tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available on the Land Conservancy’s website at www.pvplc.org or call (310) 541-7613.

Fancy a tea party with fashion? The Harbor L.I.T.E.S. (Ladies Involved in Time, Effort and Service) is hosting a Tea & Fashion Show. Harbor L.I.T.E.S. is an LAPD - Harbor Division support group that started 41 years ago. They provide funds for the Explorers program, decorate the station for the holidays, and help the police at community functions among other things. This fundraiser will be MC’d by none other than our local Senior Lead Officer Joe Buscaino. Former Captain Bob McVey will also be a part of the program.
