Proposed Verizon Cell Towers

Verizon Wireless has applied to the Los Angeles City Planning Department for five projects in the Palisades. Several of the projects are to increase utility pole heights from approximately 30′ to 50′ and add cell phone antennae, add ventillation stacks and meter pedestals. Other projects, like at the base of the Korean Friendship Bell on Paseo del Mar, would be to install new 35′ utility poles.

The last two proposals are located on the south side of Paseo del Mar. One is at the end of Western and the other is located at Wilders Addition at Parker Street. There is also another planned project on Gaffey Street just to the right of the entrance to the Korean Friendship Bell.

Appeals deadlines range from 10/14 to 10/22.

San Pedro’s Historic Resources Survey

SurveyLA is the first-ever citywide survey of Los Angeles’ historic resources. Our area is scheduled to be among the first to be surveyed in the first year of the citywide survey, and the City Planning Department Office of Historic Resources needs participation to make sure that those places of importance to us, but unknown to most, are included in the survey. These surveys will help determine future development in our area.

WHEN: Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Kaiser Permanente, South Bay, 25825 S. Vermont Avenue, in the Conference and Education Center, Room A1/A2, Harbor City, CA 90710.

Village Pub Zoning Case

The Village Pub, just northeast of 25th and Western, is under review by the Office of Zoning Administration. According to the Zoning Department “there are community allegations and Los Angeles Police Department police call and arrest report documentation of: public drunkenness, possession of illegal drugs, battery, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal homicide (dead body).”

The Office of Zoning Administration will conduct a hearing open to the public. The Director of Planning has the authority to revoke the use or impose corrective conditions on the Village Pub. Written comments may be sent prior to the hearing.
